This goes in between the ring and the jar. It allows air to pass through allowing what you put in it to get fresh air. You can dry herbs in a jar or if you are starting sprouts you can use this lid. If you are using to dry herbs or seeds give the jar a shake once a day to help speed up the drying process. Not dishwasher safe and jar is not included. Sold in sets of 3.
